Code of Conduct

1. Purpose
MutiaraMUN is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our conferences, events, and online communities, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.
We invite all participants to help us create positive experiences for everyone. By participating in MutiaraMUN activities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and to cooperate with the organizing team who enforce it.
2. Expected Behavior
We expect all participants to:
- Treat all individuals with respect and consideration
- Communicate openly and thoughtfully with others, considering the perspectives of fellow participants
- Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants
- Maintain the spirit of diplomatic dialogue and constructive debate
- Follow the rules and procedures of the conference and committees
- Respect the authority of the committee chairs and conference staff
- Adhere to the dress code specified for each event
- Participate in an authentic and active way
3. Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form
- Physical, verbal, or written abuse
- Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Disruptive behavior during sessions
- Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior
- Plagiarism in position papers or speeches
- Disrespect towards the cultures, traditions, or practices of other delegates or nations represented
- Consumption of alcohol or illegal substances during conference activities
4. Academic Integrity
MutiaraMUN values academic integrity. All position papers, resolutions, and speeches should be original work. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification from awards or removal from the conference.
5. Dress Code
Participants are expected to dress in Western business attire or appropriate formal national dress during all conference sessions. The dress code is an important aspect of the simulation's professionalism and should be respected at all times.
6. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- Verbal warning
- Temporary expulsion from the committee session
- Disqualification from awards
- Expulsion from the conference without refund
- Reporting to school authorities or law enforcement
7. Reporting Procedure
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a conference organizer as soon as possible. Reports can be made to committee chairs, secretariat members, or directly to the Secretary-General.
All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality. We are committed to creating a safe environment where participants feel comfortable reporting incidents.
8. Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all MutiaraMUN activities, including but not limited to conference sessions, workshops, social events, online forums, and social media related to MutiaraMUN. It applies to all participants, including delegates, faculty advisors, observers, guests, staff, and volunteers.
